Flagstaff Artwalk - Show Opening
As I am going down to Arizona for the opening of my latest show I decide to stay in the famous La Posada Inn located in Winslow - what a treat, a must visit for those thinking of staying even close.
We are able to hang the show on the morning of the event and I am able to get in a small bike ride as well.
In the evening the streets of Flagstaff were packed as the monthly "First Friday" artwalk is in full swing.
Coming to Flagstaff has been wonderful and it is so very much a sister city to Durango. I realize that the relationship to the Mother Road of Route 66 is a strong bond to the people of Flagstaff and the surrounding residents. My paintings are striking a cord with the viewers with the contrast of the detailed watercolor work framed by the strong bold graphics of the road signs.
Sue, Wil and Shay at McNabb Studio introduce me to various people who are part of the greater Northern Arizona art community and some of the business owners as well. The evening has a fashion show going on next door at Grandon Art which draws a large crowd and stops traffic in the street, I am not sure if this helped or hurt the traffic coming into the show.
